WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP AND IS IT FOR ME?

Permanent makeup or PMU is a safe cosmetic procedure where high-quality pigment is implanted into the dermal layer of the skin. PMU can save time, enhance features, and boost confidence. It is especially beneficial for people with busy lifestyles who have little to no time to apply daily makeup, individuals with vision impairments, or conditions that affect hair growth. BONUS, it saves money too.

Common areas for permanent makeup include eyebrows, eyeliner, and lips. However, freckles and beauty marks are becoming more popular.

DOES IT HURT?

A topical anesthetic will be used before and throughout the procedure. Anesthetics work better on some people than others.
TIP: if you are on your menstrual cycle or close to having it you will be more sensitive. You may take Tylenol ONLY (no motrin/aspirin/aleve/ibuprofen as this will cause you to bleed more than usual)

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

These procedures are considered permanent, but do fade significantly over time. Typical results vary from 3-5 years. With a little refresher, you’re good as new!

WILL I NEED A TOUCH UP?

Not everyone will need an initial touch up, but it is recommended around the 6-8 week mark. This time allows your skin to fully heal, and reveal the final result. If a touch up is needed or desired, the focus of the session will be to adjust any imperfections that occurred during the healing process, or make any changes to the original design, or depth of shade.
From there, it is recommended to get a touch up every 1-2 years to maintain desired results.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?

Healing varies from person to person. The healing process typically takes 7-14 days, depending on the area tattooed and the individual's healing process. During this time, the tattooed area may scab, itch, and flake as it heals.

HOW LONG DOES EACH PROCEDURE TAKE?

Depending on the service chosen, plan for 1-3 hours. All appointments start with a consultation, where all concerns are addressed, plus desired results. Then we map everything out, and once the design has been approved, we execute.

CAN I HAVE MULTIPLE SERVICES DONE IN ONE DAY?

Of course! We even recommend it. Not only would you consolidate the downtime for healing, but we can even overlap your numbing time; making the whole experience faster vs. coming in on separate days.

WHY CAN’T WOMEN WHO ARE PREGNANT/BREAST FEEDING GET PMU?

All cosmetic tattoo/micropigmentation procedures carry some risk of infection because the skin is being broken. While all measures are taken to prevent any infection during the procedure, there is still the possibility of an infection if not cared for correctly after the procedure. If this happens, then the baby could pick up a secondary infection.
During pregnancy, facial tissue can stretch due to swelling and fluid retention. This means that PMU applied during pregnancy, have the potential to change in shape once the baby has been born or no longer suit.
Facial skin may be more susceptible to hyper-pigmentation (especially for those who experience Melasma, commonly known as the “mask of pregnancy”).
Some women find their skin may also be resistant to accepting the tattoo pigment due to the increase in hormonal changes and fluctuation.
There is also a slight possibility that some ladies can faint while being pregnant and this would not be ideal while tattooing.
Most PMU artists will use some form of anesthetic and numbing cream prior to and during procedures. These will absorb into the skin and may enter into the blood stream.
There is not enough scientific evidence on the effects the pigments can have on the growing baby.

IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO LET MY ARTIST KNOW PRIOR TO BOOKING?

YES! PLEASE CONSULT WITH US BEFORE BOOKING YOUR APPOINTMENT IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING…

Have any previous PMU done
Are on any prescription medication that may thin your blood
Problematic skin-type that is constantly compromised (i.e. breakouts)
Pregnant or nursing
Cancer and undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
Any bacterial/viral infection or on antibiotics
Botox/ Fillers and/or any chemical peels of any kind must be avoided 4 weeks prior and 4 weeks after your follow up. This also includes laser treatments of any kind

Failure to let us know prior to booking will result in loss of your booking fee

CAN I USE LASH SERUMS OR HAVE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

If receiving an eyeliner service, please discontinue any serums or extensions 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after. Once healed, you may go back to your usual routine.
Do not wear contact lenses the day of your eyeliner procedure.

THINGS TO KNOW PRIOR TO BOOKING

Your skin will ultimately determine your healed results. Every skin type is different, and I cannot guarantee results. If your skin is sun damaged, thick or uneven in texture, excessively dry or oily we may have a harder time getting desired results. Lifestyle, medications, smoking, sun exposure all determine the longevity of your permanent makeup.
Please avoid any alcohol, coffee, caffeine, fish oil, ibuprofen or Tylenol or any blood thinner beforehand. Excessive bleeding makes it hard to get desired natural results.
Stop using any anti-aging products such as Retin-A, Glycolic or Alpha-Hydroxy Acids or exfoliants 2 weeks prior to appointment.
If you are prone to cold sores and are getting a lip blushing tattoo, please consider starting an antiviral. You will need to consult with your doctor. Exfoliate lips the day of procedure and keep hydrated for best results.
